While many Ob/Gyns perform surgery, most are unskilled in laparoscopic and other advanced surgical procedures. In fact, 60%-65% of all U.S. hysterectomies are still performed as operations (known as TAH) requiring large abdominal incisions, several days of hospitalization, and six to eight weeks of painful recovery.
